7 inch record sleeve collection

BLOG POSTED BY LUKE ON 30 AUG 2010 @ 10:28 AM

I just stumbled across this fantastic scan resource of 7 inch record factory sleeve designs... Here's a few of my faves.

I'm loving the type and grain in this one.

there's a whole lot more over at Meg Mitchell's flickr

San Francisco based artist Alexis Anne Mackenzie's collage work is actually nuts. If you look closely the inner message shall be revealed.

Eastern advertising pinup art from the 20s and 30s

BLOG POSTED BY LUKE ON 17 AUG 2010 @ 10:39 AM

I recently stumbled across the Old Orient Museum where the digital re-toucher Lexington Harper has beautifully restored Japanese and Chinese advertising posters from the 20s and 30s. It's interesting to see their interpretation of the illustrative pin-up model that dominated advertising material in the West at the time. The illustrations, colour and layout are fantastic.

Summadayze 2011 logo refresh

BLOG POSTED BY LUKE ON 16 AUG 2010 @ 03:56 PM

For the past 15 years the Summadayze new year's day party has been a rite of passage for thousands of Australians.  I was recently asked to give the music festival an ID refresh whilst still paying homage to the logo's psychedelic roots. The only other requirement was that it be vector based and that it tie in well with an ice cream theme...

Also depending on the state the festival is held in there were also a few typographic variations of the ID. Keep an eye out... you should probably begin to see it popping up around your hood.

VIVA Magazine

BLOG POSTED BY LUKE ON 12 AUG 2010 @ 10:57 AM

Viva Magazine was an adult women's publication from the 70s created by the founder of Penthouse magazine Bob Guccione and his wife. The magazine only survived 7 years but featured some amazing photography from the likes of Helmet Newton and like many magazines of that time the overall design and layout was impeccable.
